Let me begin by saying, I am a Rihanna fan. I love her music, her spirit, her style and her swagga’. I have a great appreciation for the place she will hold in the history of music, fashion, and philanthropy. She is an amazing and accomplished woman… but, I am concerned for her. I am worried that she’s now using her music as a distraction… and that while it is coming from a very real place, it may allowing her to believe that she’s dealt with other issues in her life, because she addressed them in her songs. There is a huge difference between addressing something that has happened in one’s life and working through and dealing with it. It seems that she has, indeed, addressed some of those things, but I pray for the sake of her continued happiness and long-term success, that she reaches out to someone (other than her closest circle) and finds ways to work through those issues. This is a very happy and exciting time for Rih. Approaching an album release, the awards show season, the promotional travel, and then preparing for a tour. The girl has started ramping up and the pace that she’s keeping would make most of us dizzy. I have such respect for the fact that she handles it all with poise.

I know that some here will think, “WTF, why are you trying to pull her down?” or something along those lines. Trust, I am not. I want her to heal, not just from the events of 2009, but after the 20/20 interview, I recognize that there are things that she has been carrying around for more than 10 years, without dealing with them. I don’t want to ever read that she’s crumbled under the pressures of her fame, the way that countless others have. And in order to ensure that, I hope she has peace in her spirit.

We can’t forget that before she is the “Mega-Super-Phenom known as Rihanna” she is Robyn Fenty…a person, with a real life.
