DAYTONA BEACH — The inaugural American Music Festival at the Bandshell will star Janet Jackson, Usher, the Jonas Brothers, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez.
After a week of teasing newspaper ads, aborted news conferences and a postponed ticket on-sale date, those acts were announced Friday by Manuel Bornia, president of the Community Cultural Foundation. The festival is being presented by the foundation, which also presents the Daytona Beach International Festival and its showcase act, the London Symphony Orchestra.
Newspaper ads previously trumpeted that tickets would go on sale today. However, Bornia said tickets will now go on sale May 29.
Bornia said there will be two rounds of concerts, one slated for June 25-27, and the other for Sept. 3-5. Aguilera, Lovatto and Gomez are scheduled to appear in June. The Jonas Brothers and Bieber are scheduled for September. The other artists will appear during one of those two weekends.
“All summer long, The CBS Early Show will host some of music’s biggest names from our outdoor plaza in New York City and we want you to join in the fun! Shows will feature performances from Rihanna, The Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry, Ben Harper and more!”

“Good Morning America” today announced its sizzling 2010 Summer Concert Series lineup with the hottest chart-topping acts in the US. From mega-watt stars Rihanna (on August 20), Black Eyed Peas and Alicia Keys to pop sensations the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato, and Miley Cyrus to country superstars Sugarland and Lady Antebellum, “GMA” will be rocking out all summer long in Central Park. Viewers interested in joining “GMA” in Central Park are encouraged to arrive at Rumsey Playfield via the 69th Street entrance on Fifth Avenue at 6 a.m., when the park opens to the public.
Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles announced the line up this morning on his breakfast show. Rihanna, Pendulum, Biffy Clyro and JLS top the bill on the main stage on May 23, with Vampire Weekend and You Me at Six headlining the In New Music We Trust stage. The Big Weekend, Radio 1’s flagship music event, will be broadcast on the station, with an interactive presence online at bbc.co.uk/radio1 and live performances available to watch on demand. There will be highlights on BBC Three and extended performances can be seen via the Red Button on digital TV during the weekend.
Rihanna is among the first acts announced to headline at this year’s Capital FM Summertime Ball. Other artists confirmed for the event are JLS, Justin Bieber, Cheryl Cole and Usher.
Tickets went on sale at 8am this morning, after breakfast show hosts Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon revealed the first batch of acts to perform at the concert.
“We’ve got some incredible names kicking off the lineup for this year’s Summertime Ball,” said Vaughan. “I’ve been sworn to secrecy, so stay tuned to find out who else will be performing for you at Wembley! Live music’s coming home!”
The Summertime Ball takes place at London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday, June 6.
As we reported before, Rihanna performed Bob Marley’s Redemption Song at a charity concert in Los Angeles, on Saturday night. However, that was not the only charity event she attended that night. She also performed at the Center For Education Charity Event – pictured above. If you were there and took pictures/videos, please email us at rihannadailycom@gmail.com.

Rihanna surprised who was at a charity concert last night at Hollywood & Highland, in Los Angeles. She performed Bob Marley’s Redemption Song for the second time (she first performed it at Oprah’s show, in January – watch here). She looked and sounded amazing!
